Five favourite fragrances for fall
Yes, I know I’m British and we say Autumn! I could not resist that perfect use of alliteration!
Today I wanted to share five of my favourite fragrances that give me cosy, autumn vibes. As you know, fragrance is something that gives me real pleasure, and I like to switch them up from season to season. These are the one’s that get me in the mood for falling leaves, cosy log fires, hot chocolates under a blanket, and the warmth of the low, autumn sun on a brisk walk.
Nº. 1 – THE OBVIOUS ONE
Autumn Vibes by Maison Martin Margiela

I discovered this fragrance after literally typing in ‘Autumn Fragrance’ on a search engine and it being at the top of the results. The power of advertising!
I knew I would love this one because of its powdery, mossy accords - two things I always appreciate in a fragrance. The powder gives it an old-world-classic vibe, whilst the moss makes it clean, fresh, and modern.
Once the sweetness of the powder dries down, you get a real smokiness which brings back childhood memories of bonfires, and baskets filled with chopped wood.
Nº. 2 – THE MOST COMFORTING ONE
English Pear & Freesia by Jo Malone
Floral • Fruity • Sweet • Aquatic • Musky • Fresh • Patchouli • Green • Powdery
This fragrance by Jo Malone is the ultimate in comfort. It reminds me of visiting my granny on a Sunday afternoon and being greeted by the heavenly aroma of her freshly baked apple crumble pie. Warm hugs, a comfortable armchair, the familiarity of family - this is truly comfort in a bottle.
With its main accords being floral, fruity, and sweet you would think that this is more suited for females. However the musky and aquatic accords make it suitable for all.
Nº. 3 – THE LUXURY ONE
Cuir Beluga by Guerlain
Vanilla • Powdery • Leather • Amber • Sweet • Musky • Warm Spice • Herbal
This is perhaps one of my all time favourite fragrances. I first discovered it when I was living in Dubai - a place where fragrance is very important, and smelling good can open many doors.
This is a luxury fragrance with the price reflecting so. Nevertheless it is an investment piece that you won’t regret. Use it sparingly and you will enjoy this fragrance for years to come.
The vanilla and powder give it the sweetness of autumn, whilst the warm spice and herbs bring it down to earth and stop it from being overly saccharine.
Nº. 4 – THE BUDGET ONE

Stash was gifted to me by Vanessa after I complimented her wearing it one of the first times we met. This is quite a sexy fragrance, and one that always draws comments from passers-by.
In some ways it is similar to Autumn Vibes (listed above) but the warm spice is more potent in this fragrance. Truly one for Autumn and Winter - the wonderful thing is, because of its low price point you can use it everyday and not feel guilt as the bottle starts to dwindle.

Vert Fougere by Floris
Woody • Citrus • Smokey • Aromatic • Green • Warm Spice • Amber • Fresh Spice • Powdery • Musky
Floris is a very classic perfumer, most notable for being the perfumer of choice for the British Royal Family. If you are looking for timeless, classic scent - Floris definitely has something for you. Vert Fougere is a comforting, fresh scent that will remind you of a long walk through a forest, followed by a warming cup of tea in a soft armchair. The woody, citrus accords give it an air of masculinity, whilst the Powder and Musk give it a feminine elegance. This is a fragrance that not everyone will have heard of - lets keep it our little secret.
