STYLING MY BEDROOM ON A BUDGET
I recently decided to give my bedroom a little makeover after growing tired of the stark white walls and overall lack of feeling in the room. The first thing I did to dramatically change the space was give it a fresh coat of paint using a mossy green from one of my favourite brands - Lick. I used their Green 019 which provided a dramatic improvement - taking the room from a stark canvas, to a rich, moody space that has depth and personality.
With the paint dry and settled, I decided it was time to start sprucing-up my bedroom by adding in some new accessories. I love how cushions, lamps, artwork, and other soft furnishings, like blankets, can really change the look and feel of a space.
My budget for this was quite low - ideally I didn’t want to spend more than £150.00 on this project. One of my go-to places for home decor is Homesense - I love the unique selection of items here and the fact that most of the stock is one-of-a-kind, meaning a cushion won’t show up in the home of every person I know!
I love using blankets to add depth, texture, and coziness to a room. There is something lovely about having blankets draped over the arm of a chair, inviting the sitter to hunker down and wrap up warm, if needed.
So what next for my bedroom makeover?
With the room now painted, and some accessories added to the decor, my bedroom is looking so much more inviting. However, for me, decorating is always a long process, mainly due to budget, but also because I like to take my time to find things I really love. Here are some more elements I’m hoping to add to the room.
An amazing rug can really pull a room together. I am in love with this one from Soho Home - the colour and pattern is so rich and would work well with my mossy walls and the abundance of green in the room. A pop of red always works!
I like my bedroom to feel like a sanctuary - a place where you can truly relax and unwind in comfort. I’ve been thinking of getting a TV in my room for some time - at the moment there is no TV in my house, so to be able to curl up in a chair and watch a good movie would be great. I really like this relaxed armchair from Zara Home
