What to do in the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is a region in South-Central England, famed for its heavenly natural beauty, charming market towns, and picturesque villages. I lived in this area for almost two years, and although it covers a large area of England over five counties, I got to know it very well.

For me, the beauty of The Cotswolds is unmatched.  You can drive from county to county, for miles on end and not see anything displeasing to the eye. The honeyed stone and rolling landscape are seemingly endless and it is like being in another world.  These are my favourite places to go, and things to do in the area

STATION MILL ANTIQUES

This is one of the very best places to source antiques and unique items for the home. Situated in the picturesque Chipping Norton, I always leave her wanting to fill up a truck-load of items - everything is just so beautiful.  They also have delicious coffee and cakes!

‘Whether you’re looking for something in particular, or just fancy a browse, Station Mill is a great day out’ -

The Mill is deceptively large, spread over two floors. I particularly like that all of the sellers here are individuals with different tastes - meaning there is truly something for everyone.

DAYLESFORD

Daylesford has become one of the most famous destinations in The Cotswolds and it deserves all the praise - there is simply nowhere else like it. Essentially Daylesford is a luxe farm shop, but that description doesn’t do it justice.

Founded by Lady Carole Bamford, Daylesford is a haven of good taste, and a wonderful place for a day out. You can shop the heavenly food and beverage sections, stock up on beautiful items for the home, get inspired by the floral arrangements and gardens, and dine in the cosy restaurant. It is a must visit.

BARNSLEY HOUSE

Situated in one of the most beautiful villages in The Cotswolds, Barnsley House is a country house hotel. It was once owned by the renowned garden designer, Rosemary Verey, who created the heavenly gardens that remain to this day. The garden is probably the most wonderful thing about this place, and even if you aren’t staying, you could book for afternoon tea or lunch.

“It’s especially good in late May when the garden is in early bloom and everything is magical.”
